Psoriasis

Established in 2008, Derrow Dermatology is committed to providing the highest standard of dermatological care in a convenient, state-of-the-art setting to patients of all ages.

Psoriasis is a chronic autoimmune condition that causes skin cells to rapidly build-up. The collection of cells can leave skin looking blotchy, scaley, and red. Psoriasis can be itchy and even painful. Although psoriasis isn’t typically harmful to your health, it can be a bothersome condition that provides a source of embarrassment for many patients.

There are several types of psoriasis with varying levels of severity. Psoriasis can be easily diagnosed at your dermatologist’s office. In most cases, a physical exam and medical history are enough for proper diagnosis. However, a skin biopsy may also be recommended.

What Treatment Options Are Available?

At Derrow Dermatology, we use three main options for treating psoriasis. Each method is designed to reduce inflammation and clear the skin. Based on your individual needs, Dr. Witt may suggest one or more of the following:

  • Topical Medications
  • Light Therapy
  • Systemic Medications

Dr. Will will also be able to provide you with lifestyle advice on how to prevent flare-ups once you’ve entered psoriasis remission.
