Laser resurfacing is a commonly requested procedure for the ultimate skin rejuvenation experience. Treatments are quick, easy, and involve little downtime. Derrow Dermatology helps men and women look and feel their best through minimally-invasive resurfacing treatments.

How Does Skin Resurfacing Work?

At Derrow Dermatology, we use two unique treatments for skin resurfacing. Depending on your individual needs, you may be better suited for one over the other.

DOT® Therapy

Dermal Optical Thermolysis (DOT®) therapy offers a more comfortable alternative with less recovery time than full surface laser therapy. The procedure gently vaporizes the topmost layers of skin to facilitate faster cellular turnover. DOT® Therapy smooths the skin surface and stimulates natural collagen production, so patients see fresh skin, undamaged by the sun and other environmental factors, as well as firmer skin tone over time.

Venus Viva™ RF

Venus Viva™ uses advanced NanoFractional RF™ wavelengths to trigger the body’s natural self-healing process. With the help of SmartScan™ technology, the resurfacing treatment is able to provide uniform results while combating your individual concerns. Patients can achieve superior results with minimal discomfort or downtime thanks to Venus Viva™ RF.

Am I a Good Candidate for Skin Resurfacing Treatments?

The ideal candidate for resurfacing treatments is one who is in otherwise good health and would like to address a variety of concerns at one time. Laser resurfacing can improve long-term skin health making it a great procedure for those seeking preventative care.

In addition to improving the overall appearance of skin and promoting collagen production, resurfacing treatments can be used for:

  • Acne Scars
  • Fine Lines & Wrinkles
  • Nasolabial Folds
  • Enlarged Pores
  • Pigmentation Problems

Men and women who have an active acne breakout or a rash on the face may not be suitable for the procedure. At the time of your initial consult, Dr. Witt will assess your candidacy for the procedure.

“The entire team at Derrow blew me away. I am a doctor with an extremely efficient staff with seamless patient processing and top notch patient experience as the core of our practice. My time is extremely valuable. I was a new patient today, Nikki one of the PA’s, took care of me, prescribed the correct meds, took the time to consult the doctor and their laser tech for additional concerns I had. They recommended an alternative pharmacy that could fill my meds for 100’s of dollars cheaper who called me before I got home to let me know about the prescription. In the last 10 years I have left a handful of reviews but I had to take the time to do it here. Thanks to all of you at Derrow!”*

How Long Does a Typical Treatment Take?*

The amount of time you’ll spend in-office depends on the area being treated as well as the severity of your concerns. Most laser resurfacing treatments take 30-minutes or less but require time for the application of a topical numbing cream. In most cases, you can expect to be in and out of your appointment within the hour.

What Results Will I See?*

Results from resurfacing treatments are not immediate. It can take several days to start to see the benefits of your procedure with continued improvement over the course of several months. Laser resurfacing is typically long-lasting with touch-up treatments once or twice annually.

Patients may need 3-4 monthly Venus Viva™ RF treatments to get the results they want. DOT® Therapy may only require a single treatment, but if additional treatments are needed then they are typically spaced out several months apart.

Is There Any Downtime?

You won’t need to set aside much time for either DOT® Therapy or Venus Viva™ RF treatments compared to more invasive laser treatments. Lighter sessions may require just 24-hours downtime, while deeper sessions can have upwards of 5-7 days of recovery time.
