Lightstim is a process that utilizes light to naturally rejuvenate the skin. The treatment uses multiple LED light wavelengths to combat various skin issues, including acne and wrinkles. Additionally, Lightstim can help with pain, by emitting light that increases circulation and encourages the body’s natural recovery process.
At Derrow Dermatology, our experts can determine if the soothing treatment of Lightstim is an acceptable solution to your situation.
Lightstim versus Wrinkles
When it comes to wrinkles, Lightstim utilizes multiple wavelengths of red light to heat the deep tissues of the skin, as well as stimulate collagen production in skin. Collagen is a protein that keeps the skin firm, healthy, and youthful. As we age, collagen production decreases. However, Lightstim helps pick up the slack by promoting increased collagen.
Lightstim versus Acne
For acne, Lightstim uses a combination of blue and red light to both treat acne and prevent future acne breakouts. The blue light kills surface bacteria that can lead to acne, as well as minimizes the production of sebum from oil glands to prevent breakouts. At the same time, the red light helps to reduce inflammation and the redness that comes with acne.
Lightstim versus Pain
To combat pain, Lightstim uses multiple red lights, including infrared and deep infrared. The combination both eases pain and helps the body to naturally recover. It increases blood circulation, helps with pain caused by arthritis, and relieves joint pain and stiffness.
Is Lightstim safe?
Lightstim is a safe procedure that has been around for over 20 years. It is FDA cleared for multiple uses, including:
- facial wrinkles such as crow’s feet, nasolabial folds, and forehead lines
- mild to moderate acne in adults and teenagers
- pain caused from arthritis, injuries, post-workout soreness, and muscle stiffness
Each type of treatment with Lightstim also comes backed with clinically proven results.
- near 100% of clinical study participants showed significant improvement in fine lines and wrinkles after 1-2 months of treatment.
- studies have shown Blue/red light combinations are an effective treatment to fight acne with no side effects.
- numerous studies for Lightstim pain treatments show no negative side effects and are clinically proven to be both safe and effective
When utilizing Lightstim with Derrow Dermatology, you can be confident that your procedure will be safe and lead to excellent results.
How does Lightstim work?
The process for all Lightstim treatments are essentially the same, with some variations in the process concerning time.
For both wrinkle and acne treatments, the Lightstim device will be held to the treatment area for 3 minutes. After 3 minutes, the device will beep to alert the user to move to the next area. This process is repeated until all treatment areas have been covered.
For pain, the process is the same, albeit longer. Here, the Lightstim device will be held somewhere between 5 and 30 minutes in each location, depending on the type of pain being treated. Again, the process will be repeated until all treatment areas have been covered.
