While Botox has been around for years, Jeuveau has recently been approved by the FDA. Jeuveau and Botox are both neurotoxins that can smooth out your facial wrinkles and help you look years younger. When our dermatologists tell patients about Jeuveau, one of the first questions they often ask is “Is Jeuveau better than Botox?” Keep reading to learn the answer.
How Botox and Jeuveau Work
During a Botox or Jeuveau treatment, a dermatologist will inject the formula into your muscles to block the nerve impulses that cause wrinkles. Both treatments address dynamic wrinkles like crow’s feet and frown lines that occur when you make facial expressions. They are quick procedures to perform and don’t come with any downtime.
After a Botox or Jeuveau treatment, you can return to work and your daily responsibilities immediately. Once Botox or Jeuveau wears off, you’re welcome to return to our office for additional treatments.
How Jeuveau Differs From Botox
While Jeuveau is similar to Botox, it does differ from it in a few ways. First and foremost, it was formulated solely for aesthetic use. This means it is not used to relieve headaches, migraines, TMJ pain, and other issues, like Botox. The only goal of Jeuveau is to smooth out lines and wrinkles so you can look younger.
Also, studies have shown that it leads to longer-lasting results than Botox. Many patients report that their Jeuveau results last for up to 6 months. In addition, it is a more cost-effective injectable than Botox.
Good Candidates for Jeuveau
So, how do you know if you’re a good candidate for Jeuveau? If you are bothered by moderate to severe dynamic wrinkles on your face, Jeuveau may be right for you. It can also be a good option if you’ve had success with Botox in the past but are looking to try something new. Or, are interested in saving time and money on anti-aging treatment.
We discourage Jeuveau if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or living with a neuromuscular condition. During a consultation, our dermatologists can inform you whether you’re a good fit for Jeuveau.
